Two held over marriage
Masaka — The Police and LC officials in Bukakkata have arrested two fishermen over marrying underage schoolgirls. The operation led by the LC3 chairman, Aloysius Jjuuko, netted Siraje Bukenya, 24, and John Bukenya, 23, of Lambu recently.
Woman held over pay
KAMPALA — Nakawa Chief Magistrate Margaret Mafabi has remanded in Luzira Prisons a businesswoman over issuing false cheques worth sh16m. Prosecution said Faith Nakibuuka, 50, of Ggaba, committed the offence between February and January 2002.
Man sues Police
KAMPALA — A man who was allegedly locked up for three weeks at Katwe Police Station over criminal trespass at Kibuli Police Headquarters has taken the station to the Uganda Human Rights Commission. Joseph Oburu alleged he was detained from September 20 to October 8, 2003.
LC5 hails institute
MUKONO — The district chairman, Ddamulira Kyeyune, has commended the Nile Vocational Institute in Njeru for introducing an informal anti-poverty study programme. He was at a certificate-awarding ceremony for 80 finalists recently.

MPIGI — Court has committed two men to the High Court to face charges of defilement. Hussein Byaruhanga, 27, and James Busulwa, 37 allegedly committed the offence on August 17 and January 15, 2002.
Mpigi needs more doctors
MPIGI — The district director of health services, Dr. Jessica Nassanga, has written to the district service commission to advertise for medical personnel vacancies. She said many nurses in the district were untrained.
