UTTA releases 2004 calendar

THE national rankings tournament starting on Friday will set in motion this year’s Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) activities.

THE national rankings tournament starting on Friday will set in motion this year’s Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) activities.

Top ranked player George Yiga will lead the way at the event to be held every weekend at Nakasero primary school. It will end on January 31.

Other top names including Edward Kiwanuka, Martin Olweny will seek to displace Yiga at the top.

UTTA organising secretary Brian Kaganda released the calendar that has 12 events spread to December.

The rankings event will pave way for the Photogenix sponsored Makerere Open due March 12-14.
Focus will then turn to the Sharing Open slated for March 26-28 in Nsambya.

UTTA’s top event the Uganda Open will be held in October at a venue yet to be set.

The association’s activities will end with the Matia Mulumba tournament due in November and December. The first veteran open will also be held during the same period.

Ugandan players will use the UTTA events to prepare for international action including the prestigious World championship due in Qatar March 1-7.
