Tea Factory To Be Built In Bushenyi

President Yoweri Museveni has assured the people of Buhweju county in Bushenyi district that a tea-processing factory will be built in the area after getting electricity.

President Yoweri Museveni has assured the people of Buhweju county in Bushenyi district that a tea-processing factory will be built in the area after getting electricity.
Museveni said this while addressing a rally last week.
The President commended the people for the intensive tea growing which is a major source of income.
He advised them to supplement tea growing with three or four strategic exports like Arabica coffee, fruits and diary farming.
Museveni advised the tea growers to plant the new breed of tea which leads to high yields and has a better aroma.
He said Uganda exports 30 million kg of tea annually compared to 23 million kg the country exported in 1971.
He said a sh500m contract is due to be signed next month to construct the Bihanga-Katerera road.
The Minister of State for mineral development, Kamanda Batarigaya, said the Government will extend power to Buhweju in two phases.
He said the first phase will start in March and cover 12kms.
whereby electricity will be pulled from Nyakabirizi to Nsiika county headquarters via Burere subcounty at a cost of Shs400m/=. Phase will cost Shs1b/= under the Rukungiri Bushenyi rural electrification program. He said surveyors will soon be in Buhweju on issues of power under Phase 2.Ends
