FORMER National Rally Champion Charlie Lubega will start his campaign for a record 4th title in front of the pack at this weekend’s Caltex Havoline Energy rally.

The draw conducted last night at Joker’s Sports Bar on Buganda road will have Lubega off first the ramp ahead of 13 drivers, after Ronald Sebuguzi pulled out.

With a huge gap created by the sudden retirement of reigning national champion Moses Lumala (picture right) — Lubega should make easy work of the challenge from the likes of Kuku Ranjit (car number 2), Dipu Ruparelia (car number 3) and Ponsiano Lwakataka (car number 4).

The super special stage of the rally hitherto set for Akright housing estates has been relocated to Kaazi, its traditional venue.

“We had a problem with the viewing points at Akright,” United Motor Sports Club (UMOSPOC) president David Bitalo said.
Scrutineering of cars will be conducted tomorrow at Caltex Nsambya station ahead of the super special stage on Saturday.

The second leg on Sunday will cover six sections in Mukono district.
