Tukwegomba Bangi was a favourite for the ‘best live band single’ award at last year’s Pearl Of Africa Music awards.
The same song competed for ‘best song of the year,’ but lost out on both accounts. Still, that goes to prove that Ebituwasisa Ababyala, his critically acclaimed album from which the song came was one of the most popular albums of the year.
Now, before the dust can settle, Mesach Semakula who sings with the Eagles Production, has already released another crowd favourite.
At shows on which he made appearances over the weekend, audiences were charmed by Semakula’s new single Kulika Baby, a tribute to mothers for the pains they endure at child birth, whose glory is stolen by the men as fathers.
Yesimye, another song that is stirring the airwaves, is a sensual admiration of a woman. The songs, produced by Andrew Kiwanuka in AV-1 Studio, follow the same formula as Semakula and his Eagles’ Production Band colleagues’ previous offerings – a blend of reggae beats and ‘band music’ wrapped up in sweet harmonies.
The tracks are off Semakula’s latest six-track album, entitled Teli Alumilirwa, which will be released on February 9, by Lusyn Enterprises on Market Street. Semakula, 27, will also be performing at Ekikesa Kyabagalana show at Lugogo Indoor Stadium on Valentine’s day.
