UGANDA Football Referees Association (UFRA) and National Football League Committee (NFLC) are in disagreement over which body is to take action over the referees.
The development follows NFLC’s sidelining some referees from officiating matches saying that they have been suspected by clubs to be biased.
The referees named included Fred Mufta, Yusuf Awuye, Arthur Bukenya, Charles Nsereko, Liburd Masembe and Mark Ssonko and match commissioners Ben Omoding, John Kuremu and Rajab Kisekka.
But a statement from UFRA chairman Aggrey Kibenge challenged the committee and reminded them of the FIFA statutes that give powers of referees selection to the referees standing committee.
“I find the reason given for this unfortunate resolution as un-convincing and unfair...Our past record in dealing with proven guilt is known,” read the statement.
He said that if they were to eliminate suspicion by clubs, then the league will not have started since several clubs and officials are not free from suspicion.
Meanwhile, a wrangle is developing between the FUFA executive over the sale of a bus by vice chairman Godfrey Kwizera.
