LOCAL government state minister Dr. Philip Byaruhanga has criticised the Democratic Party (DP) leadership for wasting time in court instead of preparing for the 2006 elections by mobilising public support for the party.

He said the Movement would continue marketing itself countrywide while the opposition remained in court. Byaruhanga was speaking at a function in Kyema, Masindi, at the weekend.

The Omukama of Bunyoro-Kitara kingdom, Gafabusa Iguru, unveiled a plaque for construction of Kyema Vocational Institute funded by ECLT Foundation, a consortium of tobacco processing companies.

“They have time to mobilise but they have chosen to remain in court. When 2006 comes they should not claim they had no time because they are just wasting it now,” Byaruhanga said.

In Masindi, the district chairman, John Majara and the Resident District Commissioner, Hassan Galiwango, hailed the British American Tobacco Uganda for investing here and contributing to charity.

Galiwango said those who love monarchs should also love the Movement. He said it created a conducive environment for investment.
