THIS time round, corporate companies will be invited to take part in the annual Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) gala set for February 28 at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
Kampala business tycoon Mike Ezra, the sponsor of the USPA monthly meetings, has sponsored the gala.
The companies will be expected to buy tables for six at sh0.6m, which money will go towards the expenses of a dinner, according to USPA treasurer Pamela Batenga.
“There are companies that have supported sports and we see no reason why we should not invite them to witness the crowning of the best sports-personalities in the country. They have supported them and we really need their presence,” Batenga said.
One of the three nominees Dorcus Inzikuru, Boniface Kiprop and Charles Yokwe will be crowned the best sports personality for 2003 at the grand ceremony.
Batenga said that on top of a dinner, there will be wine for the corporate sponsors.
The general public will also be invited to the gala at a sh20,000 fee, which will entitle them to two drinks (beers or sodas).
“For many years, the public has been complaining that they are always been left out, it is time we let them join the sports fraternity in crowning the sports best,” she said.
