Campaigns for the Kabale LC5 by-elections kicked off on Wednesday under tight security.
The race attracted three candidates; Dennis Nkwasibwe, Geoffrey Nzaana and Adison Kakuru, who is seeking re-election.
They addressed joint rallies at Bufundi and Butanda sub-counties.
Kakuru said he was experienced and pleaded for a chance to finish the programmes he initiated.
Nzaana promised to revitalise the education sector and improve Kabale’s poor soils to reduce the migration of the Bakiga to other districts.
Nkwasibwe promised to reduce taxes if elected.
