CDC Capital Partners have created a new brand, Actis to help attract private investments. The move is expected to bring more private participants aboard. Actis aims to become the leading private equity investor in emerging markets, following its official launch throughout the world on Wednesday.
Already an established business, Actis was created from CDC Capital Partners last month. Following the acquisition, a new structure has been put in place, an independent fund management company, Actis and an investment holding company which will retain the name CDC and will remain wholly owned by the UK Government.
Actis currently has $2.5b funds under management in emerging markets and aims to raise this level to $3b in the next three years. It will invest and manage capital for CDC and aims to increase the number of third party investors from the current level of 70 institutions, according to a press statement.
