Rotary walk
KAMPALA — Rotary International has organised a charity walk, dubbed World Peace and Understanding to raise funds for different projects. The seven-kilometre walk, which flags off in Kabalagala at 10:am today, will attract about 100 people. The event is to commemorate 99 years of Rotary’s existence.

LUWEERO — The deputy resident district commissioner, Jackson Mangali, has urged non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to be transparent. Mangali, who was addressing a budget meeting recently, asked them to co-operate with the Government. The meeting was called to streamline NGOs in the district budget.

MUBENDE — Chief magistrate John Agaba has remanded in Kaweri Prison 25 people, including an LC1 vice-chairperson, for alleged arson and assault. Prosecution said the suspects assaulted 28 alleged wizards, burnt and destroyed their property in Bubalya village.

LUWEERO — The LC5 chairperson, Abdul Nadduli, has called upon the educated to produce many children for the good of the district. Nadduli was meeting civil society organisation officials at the district headquarters recently. He said the educated, who value education and good health, should be the ones to produce many children.

KAMPALA — City Hall Court Magistrate Deborah Wanume has remanded Mukasa Juma, 20, of Nsooba in Mulago for alleged defilement. Prosecution said Mukasa defiled a 10-year-old girl on January 20.
