ARYA Primary School reopened yesterday to a new crisis of lack of teachers.

Pupils reported to school only to find empty classes and a deserted bushy compound awaiting them.

The headteacher and teachers were transferred last year when Kampala City Council (KCC) returned the premises to Arya Samaj East Africa following a court ruling.

President Yoweri Museveni on Friday ordered KCC to open the school with 1,500 pupils.
When The New Vision visited the troubled school, pupils were playing in the bushy and dirty compound while others were eating ice cream.

Papers and rubbish littered the school in Kololo, a city suburb.

Only one teacher was present. " I cannot conduct classes. There is a serious problem in the school," he said.
