Chagga has new single
Twenty-Four year-old Geoffrey Kyagambidwa, aka Chagga (pictured), has served his spell as a back-up singer for Jose Chameleone, lending his smooth vocals to practically everything Chameleone has recorded since he shot to stardom, with the exception of Mama Mia. With the celebrated PAM Award 2003 Best Artist of the Year's new album, Mambo Bado, comes yet another Chagga release, Nkooye, squeezed up somewhere in between Chameleone's songs. The track, talks of the singer's frustration with counterfeit love.

Weasel, Tikita in duet
He had always lurked in the shadow of his famous elder brother Jose Chameleone. But Weasel soon showed the world he was an artiste in his own right when he released the adrenaline-raising Toyomba. This hit afforded him a chance to perform at the star-studded Pearl Of Africa Music Awards at Speke Resort, Munyonyo. Now, hardly a year after, Weasel (pictured) has teamed up with another upstart of fairly good musical repute, Tikita, who shot fame after Bwosaba, a he sang with Chameleone. The two are set to hit the airwaves when they release their joint single Tweyagalize.

Namubiru's new heights
The last we heard of France-based Irene Namubiru, the other half of the defunct duo I-Jay (Juliana Kanyomozi being the second half), was that she had had a baby. Before that, Irene had competed in a nationwide talent search in France and reached the Top 18. The latest news from Paris indicates that the singer might have scored big. Irene is now part of another duo, Nujeli, which comprises herself and Julien Groult, a French artist. The group is signed with a small French independent label called Bloom Records since last November and their debut album is expected out, beginning of May.

Banton/Chameleone duet
Is Red Banton a one-hit wonder? The former watchman who hit the music scene with mega hit Nonya Money back in 2001, spent the following year winning awards and accolades but fade out faster than he rose. Red Banton's attempt at a comeback early last year hit a snag, when his Kawawa album never got released because most of the songs had been pirated. However, as we talk, Banton is in Leone Island Studios where he is working on a new song called Kakona, a duet with Jose Chameleone.
