Finally, something is astir in the Limit X camp. The US-based Ugandan Gospel music trio has a new album coming out and are slated to perform in Uganda in April.
The new album has not yet got a title, but group member Isaac Ruccibigango, who is town, says it will have 10-tracks and is expected out mid this year.
Ruccibigango says the group will be part of two shows over the Easter weekend at Nile Hotel Gardens.
“The concert in my opinion will be one of the biggest Gospel shows Kampala has seen. There will be a 40-piece choir with laser lights, screens and mega sound. But it will not be solely a Limit X show.
Other local Gospel artists will also take part in it. We will arrive in April for the show, leave and then come back in about two and half weeks,†says Ruccibigango.
He says Andrew Rugasira’s VR Promotions will promote the show but stops short of divulging more information, saying the promoters will give the media details later.
Ruccibigango says one of the reasons the group will return is to promote musical programmes: “We are going to be conducting seminars and workshop to sensitise local musicians on the dynamics of the music industry,†he says.
Ruccibigango says five of the tracks are almost ready. Limit X’s latest album is 4 Real. Prior to that, the group had three albums to their credit: Unashamed (1991), which they recorded in the UK; Malibonge (1995) and Send Me (1997). They also released a collection of their greatest hits.
They produced the first three albums by themselves but worked with Kenny Smith, a Grammy Award-nominated singer and Keith Robertson an acclaimed producer to produce 4 Real.
“On the new album, we want to work with a diversity of producers. Montrell Darret is one of them. We would also like to work with Winston Mayanja (now in the UK) on a reggae track or two. We had wanted so much to do a song with Steve Jean but AV-1 Studio is still being set up so we could be behind schedule.â€
