Dear Motormart,

THE left wheel driving shaft of my Honda Prelude recently began to make a cracking noise. When I sought mechanical advice I was told I needed another shaft, which I have looked for but failed to get. Where can I get one or what can I do as a solution to my problem?

Honda vehicles are not a very common type in Uganda and most of the people whose Honda vehicles develop serious problems, have had to make special orders from abroad for the spare parts, which is expensive. This has resulted into some people selling their Hondas when they are still in a good condition. The country does not have a serious Honda agent right now, to help in the importing of its spare parts. However, your driving shaft can be fabricated and you can drive for time. If it goes bad again you can go for further fabrication at Kisekka market. You can also order for a pair of shafts from Japan, but because this is an order it will take some time. So the best thing will be to park your car, until you get the shafts or alternatively you go for the fabricated ones as you wait.
