KANUNGU - The LC5 chairperson, Josephine Kasya, has said parents who do not take their children to school risked arrest. He told LCs at Kanyantorogo sub-county that Kanungu was not a district for producing housekeepers but future leaders.

NAADS gives
MBARARA - The National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS), has equipped departments in 15 districts with information equipment worth sh0.63m. In a letter to the CAO, Hezzy Kafureka, on Wednesday, departments will be required to distribute information to farmers.

Govt urged
BUSHENYI - The government has been asked to increase the capitation grants and logistical support to secondary schools to match the increased enrolment. The headmaster St. Barnabas S.S Karujanga, Augustine Orikiriza, last week said there were many pupils joining secondary school from UPE.


MP blames
RUKUNGIRI - woman MP Winfred Matsiko has blamed school management committees for poor performance in last year's Primary Leaving Examination results. She said last week at the closing of a chakamchaka course at Bugangari sub-county headquarters that supervision of schools was under management committees.

11km walk
MBARARA - One of the best candidates in the 2003 UCE results Emmanuel Mwesigye was travelling 11km to school daily. He said he did not have enough time to revise. He said his father was too poor to raise the boarding fees. He wants to become a doctor if he can get school fees for A' level.

Property lost
KYENJOJO - Rwenzori Commodities Limited, a subsidiary of Mukwano Group of Companies, has expressed concern over the theft of construction equipment from the new tea factory in Kigumba. At a security meeting recently, Henry Muzaale, a company official, requested LCs to provide land for the company to build a Police post to protect the company property and residents.
