ABBEY Ariong took the Uganda Darts Association (UDA) mantle and the women’s day championship at Club Five Makerere University this weekend will be his first event in office.
The two-day event that starts today welcomes Ariong, who took over from Gordon Bamutura, the former chairman who stood down recently. .
UDA official Johnson Sendagala said the event, which is part of International Women’s Day festivities, is geared towards encouraging female participation.
“This is one way of women in the sport,” said the veteran. Sendagala is the new UDA vice chairman. David Tabaro is secretary while Olive Begomba is his assistant.
