National Council for Women chairperson Rose Najjemba has said the 21st century was a time for women’s full participation in leadership and decision making.

“The capacity of women to achieve excellence in their chosen fields has long been fully proven,” she said.

Speaking at the Uganda Women Media Association (UMWA) headquarters at Kisaasi as part of the International Women’s Day celebration recently, Najjemba urged women to vie for public, professional and economic posts.

She regretted that despite their capacity, women were hardly given chance to prove their ability.

Najjemba told UMWA to use the media in fighting HIV/AIDS and poverty, stressing education for the girl child.
