KAMPALA City Council (KCC) has withdrawn refuse skips from suburbs where private firms have started collecting garbage.
The KCC senior public relations officer, Simon Muhumuza, on Thursday said the firms would dispose off the garbage at Kitezi dumping site in Wakiso district.
“The residents will pay rates depending on their locations whether in low, medium or high-density areas,” he said.
Muhumuza said KCC would sensitise the public about the city Solid Waste Ordinance, which requires generators of garbage to meet part of the cost.
Nabugabo Updeal Ltd will operate in Kampala Central Division while M.B Engineering Investments will work in Kawempe division.
