Multiplex Limited Owes KCC Sh320m

MULTIPLEX Uganda Limited, the contracted managers for Kampala’s street parking, owe Kampala City Council (KCC) sh320m.
Last week, Gerald Kayondo, chaired the KCC finance and economic affairs committee and recommended that Multiplex pays the full contractual sum by March 31, 2004.
Multiplex won the contract after bidding a monthly cash return to KCC of sh80.8m. Multiplex took over from Green Boat Entertainment Limited.
In its February 2004 meeting, the committee was informed of the wrangles between Multiplex and SEKA Uganda Limited, a company that collects loading and offloading fees from the public.
Multiplex complained that SEKA was interfering in its operations which was hindering them from collecting the full contractual sum.
According to the committee’s minutes, it was decided that Multiplex first pays the contract sh320m arrears after which the council would look into their complaints.Ends
