THE UPDF has killed 10 Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebels in Kitgum and Pader, the army Fifth Division spokesman has said.
Second Lt. Chris Magezi said yesterday the UPDF Indian Battalion killed five LRA at Orianga and rescued five captives reports James Oloch.
“The rebels wanted to raid foodstuffs but we foiled their plans using a helicopter gunship,” Magezi said.
He said another gunship killed five rebels at Lanyatono in Pader district.
He said among the rebels killed was a Lieutenant whose identity was not yet verified.
He said the army rescued six abductees, captured two guns and a solar panel.
Magezi said five rebels surrendered to the army in Pader on Wednesday evening. They included a Lieutenant, Okanyi Boniface and a Warrant Officer who was a medical officer for the rebels.
