THE National Democratic Front (NDF) has said the Government lacks commitment to the talks with the multi partyists.

NDF secretary general, John Matovu on Thursday said the Government had failed to put in place an enabling environment and the situation seemed to be getting worse.

“Although the parties have shown willingness to resume dialogue, the Government does not seem to be committed,” Matovu said.

He said one of the conditions the multi-partyists requested was the creation of an environment for consultation of party members at grassroot level.

“The signs we read from the conduct of the Police and some members of the Movement show intolerance and the Government’s unwillingness to resume talks,” Matovu said.

He said the Police had continued to disperse rallies organised by multi-partyists and anti-third term activists.

“A clear example here is the PAFO meeting in Jinja and the Clock Tower rally,” Matovu said.
Matovu urged the Government to prepare itself for fair competition in politics the way it had readily embraced competition in the economy.
