FORT PORTAL — The mayor, Asaba Ruyonga, recently urged residents to watch out for thieves pretending to be tax collectors. He was at the burial of a woman only identified as Georgina, who was killed by thieves.

Man charged
FORT Portal — A Grade One Magistrate recently charged Gad Mashbege, a barman, with allegedly assaulting Mayas Muhereza, a student of Mpanga Secondary School in 2002. Prosecution said Muhereza had gone to the bar when she was assaulted.


Govt hailed
KABALE — The education officer, Mathias Akeeka, has hailed privatisation of education. He said it contributed to national development. Akeeka was speaking at the opening of Foa Model Primary School recently. He advised proprietors to invest in education infrastructure and strive for better grades.


AG warns
KASESE— The Auditor General’s representative, in Patrick Ndahura, has warned the council against over spending money obtained from locally raised revenue. He was addressing councillors at the Council Hall. Ndahura said over 90% of that money was being spent on business.
The council took place at the District Council hall at Rukoki, the district headquarters on Monday.
