THE Conservative Party (CP) secretary general, John Ken Lukyamuzi, has branded the party leader, Mayanja Nkangi, as a Movement supporter.

“By suggesting to register the party, it confirms that he is an open Movementist because CP as part of the G7 does not support Political Parties and Organisations Act (PPOA). It is as bad as apartheid in South Africa,” he said.

Lukyamuzi was on Monday reacting to media reports that Nkangi planned to have the party registered under PPOA.

“PPOA lacks the people’s legitimacy much as the Government would have liked it. We rejected it as a bad law and must be returned to Parliament and refined,” he said.

Lukyamuzi wished Nkangi political demise, saying no sane political leader could support such a ‘bad law’ especially after the Constitutional Court had nullified its 18th and 19th sections.

He said he would mobilise party supporters not to sign Nkangi’s fictitious endeavours.

Lukyamuzi said CP’s support for talks with the Government on political transition was based on principle.

“Let us give chance to the talks so that even if they failed we would be remembered for having played our part,” he said.
