PROGRAMME OFFICER
Our client, DFID Uganda (Department for International Development Uganda), is an international development assistance Agency that focuses on development issues throughout the world including poverty alleviation, conflict and humanitarian issues, health and education. DFID Uganda is looking to fill the above vacant position. Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill this position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Deputy Programme Manager, the Program Officer will:
1. Assist in the administrative and technical aspects of project cycle management.
2. Supervise financial information activities for the Uganda Programme.
3. Provide programme and project management support in the areas of Governance, Social Development,
Economics, Statistics and Civil Society.
4. Manage the contracting process.
5. Supervise and manage staff, including staff welfare and discipline
6. Liase with DFID partners, specialist agencies and consultants in handling correspondence
7. Ensure that information and data are managed properly to improve access to information and develop/collate documents for the information database
Person Specifications:
Qualifications: A first degree in Management, Administration, Social Sciences, Economics or related field. Additional related qualifications will be an advantage.
Experience: In-depth knowledge of project cycle management. Knowledge of DFID procedures and systems. Familiarity with the key procedures for procurement and management of contractors/consultants, and with financial management and forecasting.
Working knowledge of DFID's organisational dynamics and of external bodies which have a bearing on area of responsibility.
Good relationship management with external contacts.
Able to anticipate and assess the likely implications of proposals or outcome of projects or services.
