THE squabbles that always characterised the National Primary Schools Championship could be history at this year’s competition in Hoima.

Districts have always conflicted on the authenticity of competitors with teams accusing each other of fielding over age athletes.

This year’s competition will however see the introduction of the junior and seniors categories in the five-day annual event that starts today.

Patrick Okanya, the head of the competition’s technical committee, said yesterday that each team will only be allowed to field two participants for each event.

A team will only have one junior and a senior for each event except in the relays where each team(district) will be allowed four teams.

The four comprise an entry in each of the following: junior boys’, junior girls, senior boys and senior girls. The new rules were agreed on last year in Tororo.
