Jamaican music superstar Sean Paul’s entertainment tour of East Africa ended on a sour note at the weekend when he lost his mobile phone at Jomo Kenyatta Airport as he headed for his last show in Tanzania. The popstar’s Nokia 3650 contained among other information, practice recordings and phone numbers of his contacts. He has delayed his return home to Wednesday.

Three drown in L. Victoria

Three people drowned in Lake Victoria when their boat capsized on Monday near Koome Islands. The fishermen were travelling from Kalyabusi landing site to Kiyindi. Local fishermen in the area said their colleagues left the Island on Sunday evening and were supposed to return on Monday morning. Police identified the dead as Stephen Obichwo, 29, Amos Mbiro, 25 and Robert Kasubi, 24.

UN men in mourning
NEBBI —
Over 30 members of the United Nations forces in the Democratic Republic of Congo at the weekend travelled to Nebbi to mourn their fallen colleagues. Sergeant Yek Darai and Warrant Officer Youba Raj Ostib from Nepal died in a road accident in Nebbi on Sunday. They are to be buried in Nepal.

Rebel ‘spy’ shot dead

A man suspected to be a rebel collaborator was shot dead by the UPDF on Sunday at Pabbo IDP camp. It is said that he was leading a group of LRA rebels.

The LC3 chairman of Pabbo camp, Christopher Ojera, said Ojok Odong Kiri was shot at about 3:00am when he was allegedly following a group of rebels who attempted to raid a camp at Pabbo. The rebels were repulsed.
