Rubaga South MP John Ken Lukyamuzi has asked the Government to pay Luweero war debt claimants before negotiating with the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebel leader Joseph Kony.

“I am glad that Museveni has agreed to talk to Kony. But why should he talk to Kony before talking to you who made him what he is today?” he asked.
Lukyamuzi was on Saturday speaking at Luweero Sports Grounds at the invitation of the over 180 war debt claimants.
The veterans, through their leaders, told Lukyamuzi that they were planning to sue the Government for neglecting them after it made contract with them during the bush war.

Lukyamuzi said the Government was violating their rights by neglecting the claimants’ plight, harassing them and breaching a contract that it entered with them during the bush war.
They complained against the use of tear gas when the Police evicted them from the Parliamentary Buildings in Kampala recently.

They alleged that officials who have been working on their claims swindled the money meant to pay them.
“There was a breach of contract. It was also wrong for the Police to use tear gas on peaceful people like you,” Lukyamuzi said amid applaud from the veterans.
Museveni recently expressed willingness to talk peace with the LRA.
