Judging by the guest list, it was really an unusual party. Present were Gordon Wavamunno of Spear Motors, the High Court Judge James Ogoola, the outspoken Mbarara woman MP Miria Matembe and information minister Nsaba Buturo.
The Ndere Troupe was not there to entertain and so were the Anglican Youth Flames. This was last Sunday in the Church of Uganda Archbishop’s garden in Namirembe.
At 3.00pm, all guests were seated and listening to the sweet voices of the Anglican Youth Flames.
We were attracted to join in the singing. We stood and sung praises to God.
The reason the Archbishop called this garden party was to ask people like Wavamunno and others to dig deep into their pockets so a house can be built for the Lord.

Architects have estimated that this modern complex will cost sh4b to build. Orombi says the All Saints Cathedral can no longer hold the flock teeming in thousands.
The congregation is so big that on Sundays many pray from outside the church.
“I pray it does not rain during services and sometimes my prayers are answered,” Orombi says.
His team which include big names like businessman Andrew Rugasira and Major General Mugisha Muntu are set to work round the clock to raise money for the house which is to sit over 10,000 worshippers.
A determined Ogoola summed it up in his words: “As for James Ogoola and his family, we will serve the lord in this project.”
Orombi urged the team to believe they will see the Cathedral standing at Nakasero hill in their lifetime.
