RESIDENTS of Parombo sub-county in Nebbi district have rejected the payment of graduated tax.
They also vowed to boycott the forthcoming elections if the Government rejected a parliamentary motion to scrap the tax.
The residents were recently meeting the district woman MP, Betty Udongo Pacutho, at Market Square in Parombo trading centre.
This followed a revelation by Udongo that Parliament had moved a motion demanding the scrapping of graduated tax for its humiliating collection methods and burden to the poor.
Cabinet is reportedly fighting to retain the tax amid growing opposition to its payment.
