ABUJA All Africa Games bronze medallist Irene Ajambo and her colleague Moses Kimbowa have vowed to bring back gold medals from Africa senior and junior weightlifting championships in Tunisia this weekend.
The lifters whose departure to Tunisia was delayed by financial difficulties, will finally fly out tomorrow aboard Emirates Air.
“I have to win a gold medal in Tunisia to compensate the one I lost at the East African championships in Tanzania. My training has been sufficient enough,†Ajambo said yesterday.
“I am happy all of us (lifters) have increased the weights we lift for training purposes. That will give us an advantage over our opponents and nothing will stop us from winning medals,†Kimbowa added.
Property Masters has promised a reward of sh0.1m for whoever wins a medal at the event which doubles as a 2004 Athens Olympic qualifier.
Uganda weightlifting Federation will in addition receive four return air tickets for the lifters from Rio Insurance Company at a press conference at Grand Imperial Hotel this morning.
