HASSAN Mubiru ended his international goal drought by scoring against Zanzibari club Jamhuri in yesterday’s Kagame Cup action.
Last year’s league top scorer, who was about to lose his nickname “Figo†after failing to score on the international scene for over two years, opened the scoring in the fifth minute as Express won 3-1. David Obua and Jimmy Kidega sealed it before Jamhuri got a consolation from Shaban Mfaune’s penalty.
Focus turns to a crunch tie between last year’s finalists, champions SC Villa and runners-up Simba of Tanzania today.
Villa piped Simba 1-0 in Kampala last year. “This game will be like a cup final,†said Micho Srejedovic. “The two clubs were finalists last year and each has an axe to grind.â€
The $60,000 tournament is sponsored by Rwanda President Paul Kagame while East African Procurement News gave referees kit.
