Makerere LDC petitions court over land title

THE Law Development Centre (LDC) has petitioned the High Court to deregister a claimant of a land title.
Through its lawyers, the LDC asked court to order the registrar of titles to cancel Daniel Sserufusa Wasswa’s names from the certificate of the land on Block 9 Plot 222 in Makerere, Kampala.
The LDC said the land belonged to them and that Wasswa wrongly obtained the title with neither their knowledge nor consent.
It said Wasswa refused to surrender the certificate to the registrar of titles for cancellation despite constant remainders by them.
It is also seeking an injunction restraining Wasswa from carrying out any development on the land.
However, Wasswa, denied the allegations, saying he was the rightful owner of the land.
He is currently seeking more than sh100m as compensation, claiming that the Government did not complete the process of acquring the land for LDC.
