SEASONED driver Dipu Ruparelia will return to the cockpit in this weekend’s Alpha Mbarara rally after a seven-month break.
Dipu and co-driver Isaac Rwakiseta in a Mitsubishi Evo4 on Saturday registered under Alpha Rally Team.
“The car had been overhauled and there were some parts we couldn’t do without. This being an Alpha rally we did our best to have the car ready for the event,†Dipu said. “Everything is set, we are just planing for recce.â€
Dipu’s entry sets up an all Mitsubishi battle with top contenders Charlie Lubega (Mitsubishi Evo4), Riyaz Kurji (Mitsubishi Evo7) and Kuku Ranjit (Mitsubishi Evo5).
Twelve drivers have so far entered the weekend rally organised by UMOSPOC.
Registration ends today at 5.30pm and the draws will be conducted on Wednesday at Dolphin Suites in Bugolobi.
