So much water has passed under the bridge since Trinity College Nabbingo was founded.
Praise be to God for the golden hearts of the founders of this great college. Their thoughtfulness and generosity has made a tremendous impact on the lives of uncountable women and men of Uganda who would other wise be telling different stories.
At Grand imperial Hotel swimming pool side, 7:00pm, April 9, was the 2004 annual dinner dance of Trinity College Nabbingo presided over by the State Minister for Persons with Disabilities Florence Sekabira at which many old girls were seen shaking their bones.
It was a function that kicked off with a heavy dinner before the headmistress Nakate Kikomeko gave her speech in which she pledged to keep the school shining academically. She was standing before the guests together with fellow teachers .
Kikomeko, who was in a jovial mood said “We shall make sure this school shines in high spheresâ€.
The College is so lucky for having groomed many big shots in the country including the deputy Chief Justice Lady Laeticia Kikonyogo, Bushenyi Woman MP Mary Karooro Okurut, Joanita Kawalya of Afrigo Band, State Minister of Education in charge of Primary Education Namirembe Geraldine Bitamazire, State House legal assistant Naava Nabagesera and Syda Bbumba, the Minister of Energy and Mineral development.
Next was an old girl of the College and minister Florence Sekabira who urged old students not to stay away fom their school saying that they are tied up with commitments but endeavour to contribute to the development of the school.
“Form Associations as old girls to improve your welfare, standards of living, engage in the reproductive health, find time to go and talk to the current students of Nabbingo about Aids, and how they can live longer as a solution of fighting Aids†a tough talking Sekabira said.
“There are many of us who cannot sustain our selves after school. Don’t despise your beginning, we should come up with ideas to overcome poverty, and those of you who are blessed and lucky, train farmers out there, train women to improve on the skills they have!â€
Sekabira also attacked parents who refuse to give parental care to their children, and those who starve them.
The party ended at midnight with a thrilling dance of each of the guests.
