Traffic jams, the traffic jams, KCC

SIR— First I commend KCC on the recent developments in improving city roads and the lighting. I thought after reducing the potholes in the city, KCC would now embark on the ever increasing problem of the traffic jams.

SIR— First I commend KCC on the recent developments in improving city roads and the lighting. I thought after reducing the potholes in the city, KCC would now embark on the ever increasing problem of the traffic jams. However, I now doubt KCC’s ability to think ahead in trying to manage the traffic jams. I was surprised when I recently took Jinja Road. I found men very busy closing all the junctions between double-lane roads. This then forced all vehicles to the few and often-crowded roundabouts. For example, somebody moving to Sixth Street from the city centre can no longer use Station Road but must go to the already jammed Jinja Road roundabout. A person from Parliament Avenue joining Jinja Road will have to use the same roundabout.
The relevant authorities should think twice before deciding on anything. Look at the traffic control towers that were abandoned. What a waste!
