THE LRA brigade commander, Col. Charles Odhiambo, has fled from the UPDF offensive in the Sudan and crossed into Uganda with an unspecified number of fighters and abductees, the army said yesterday.

Army spokesman in Gulu Lt. Paddy Ankunda said Odhiambo crossed into Uganda on Thursday night through Ngomo-romo in Kitgum and was heading south to Palabek in Kitgum.

“We have resolved to kill Odhiambo. We have everything to ensure he is killed,” he said.

Ankunda said Odhiambo, who has left rebel chief Joseph Kony roaming in Kit valley, crossed with a few arms.

Some military sources said Odhiambo entered Uganda on Friday through Lela-bul in Lukung sub-county in Lamwo County in Kitgum district. They estimated that he entered with about 600 fighters.

“But we shall kill him and capture all the ammunition he has come with. We have a force to trace and kill him,” Ankunda added.

Meanwhile, the army has said it killed seven rebels and captured 10 during battles in the Kilak hills and Pukony in Gulu district last evening.
Ankunda said five rebels were killed by the 79th Battalion and two by the 505 Brigade.

Ankunda said the army recovered three sub-machine guns with 100 bullets from the rebels.
