Mbale municipality bye-election candidate George Masika has told voters to shun candidates who want to catch the President’s eye.
“I am not going to Parliament to look for a job from the President but to defend the Constitution which I participated in making,” Masika, a former chief justice and Constituent Assembly delegate, said.

Addressing voters at North Road Primary School on Saturday, Masika told voters not to elect a person who would be appointed a minister and use his position to divert government programmes to his constituency without looking at the nation at large.

At many a rally, candidate Wanjusi Wasieba has said he has a proven track record that will enable him lobby for services for his constituents.
He is a former state minister for works, housing and communication.

Mbale MPs, reportedly fearful of Wasieba’s potential, were backing Masindi RDC Hassan Galiwango, the other Movement candidate.
Sarah Wasagara said she would support the third term at the people’s wish.
