Kabarole district tops western Uganda in crime and defilement is the leading crime in the region, according to a quarterly Police report.

Releasing the report in his office on Tuesday, the regional criminal investigations officer, Stephen Otim, said the district had a high incidence of murder and robbery between January and April.

“Since the year began, Kabarole district has recorded more incidents of violent crime such as murder than other districts in the region,” he said.

Otim said the district recorded 57 aggravated and simple robbery cases, 54 defilement and 32 murder cases.

He said Kyenjojo was the second with 36 cases of defilement, 25 robbery and 19 murder.
Kasese came third with 54 defilement, 16 robbery and 10 murder cases.

Kamwenge and Bundibugyo recorded few crimes.

Meanwhile, the Mbarara-based south-western regional Police commander, Edward Ochom, released a similar report on Tuesday.

He said there were 245 and 22 defilement and rape cases respectively.
