MOYO district has failed to account for over sh80m released by North West Smallholder Agriculture Development Project (NWSDP) for the 2003/4 financial year.
During a workshop at Moyo Town Hall recently, NWSDP national coordinator Beatrice Akello said there were inconsistencies in the labeling of voucher and cheque numbers.
Akello said the district did not even document its expenditure.
NWSDP substitutes the National Agriculture Advisory Services (NAADS), which does not operate in the West Nile region.
It aims at eradicating poverty, ensuring food security and increasing employment opportunities for the masses.
Akello said sh72m had been allocated to Moyo for the April-June quarter, adding that they would only be allowed to withdraw it after convincing the organisation that they would account for it.
She encouraged the district to allocate the funds to development projects and not for their own needs.
Akello told the district officials to invest in sensitisation programmes, adding that the farmers were not benefitting from the project because the district did not sensitise them about the availability of the funds.
