MOYO district education office has warned teachers against promiscuous relations with students.
The assistant district education officer, Michael Mali, said this at a Parents Teachers Association meeting at Moyo Comprehensive School recently.
Mali said teachers were role models to students who should not involve themselves drinking with their students.
“Follow your professional code of ethics. Don’t come to school while drunk. We want you to educate responsible children not wolves and unruly citizens,” he said.
Mali said the performance of schools would not improve if teachers do not adhere to their ethical values.
He advised secondary school teachers in the district to become examiners. He said they would get examinations techniques and improve the academic performance in their schools.
Mali criticised redundancy among students, adding that it was the cause of numerous strikes in the district.
He appealed to students to be disciplined to become responsible citizens.
Over 100 parents, teachers and students attended the meeting.
