Minister calls for referendum

THE state minister for mineral development, Kamanda Bataringaya, has said the Government should hold a referendum to decide whether to open up political space, saying the people who matter have been consulted and have approved the idea.<br>

THE state minister for mineral development, Kamanda Bataringaya, has said the Government should hold a referendum to decide whether to open up political space, saying the people who matter have been consulted and have approved the idea.
Bataringaya told journalists on Saturday that the Constitution stated that the power belongs to the people, adding that it was up to them to dictate the country’s future.
“The decision of a few people can not be compared to the majority,” he said.
