At the Obsessions fifth anniversary celebrated at Sabrina’s Pub, it was clear that these youthful lads and lasses were every inch what they promised to be, Coooool.

What started out as a group of former Namasagali students forming a dance group that would showcase their lifestyles and physiques, ended up making the troupe a formidable force in the industry and a household name.

After massive publicity, it was no surprise that the place was steaming with all manner of people.

But again, the VIP section was wrongly situated and the people seated there had to crane their necks in a bid to watch the action.
Despite everything, the party was predictable. Boring openning acts from the overworked Viboyo and Jenkins Mukasa (he should stick to marketing) were a downer.

The MC Dennis ‘the menace’ Mawanda did a pathetic job. Someone needs to tell this chap that he wasn’t cut out to be an events presenter.

Redeeming performances from Mosh, Kefa Mwesigwa, Dorothy Bukirwa, Lyrical G, Red Banton with Kivebulaya, Titi from Kads Band, Chameleone and Segwanga had the audience stirred just abit.
Now, Trishila gyrating and Sam and Sophie Gombya’s show of affection have been overdone, nothing captivating there.

When the Obsession finally took to the smoke-filled stage, the guys sang beautifully and the seductivly dressed girls danced like their lives depended on it. As for Natasha Sinayobe, her pretty looks and physique are best executed on the catwalk.

However, like everything else that evenning, the Obsessions’ presence on the stage was shortlived. They ran off, leaving us to watch a recap of their growth over the years. It was something.

Obsession returned with all their hit songs like Nod your head and Housegirl much to the crowd’s thrill. They even had a fashion show where the girls strutted what their mamas gave them like there was no tomorrow.

The climax of the event was the cake-cutting and the fund-raising.

Impressive offers came from Ambassador Birigwa, Hajji Katongole and Juma Seiko, who offered 500,000 each but the man of the night was David Katumwa who gave sh2m.
