UGANDA Revenue Authority’s (URA) Commissioner General, Annebrit Aslund, is in court over sweets.
Sweets importer Tonny Lumu dragged Aslund to the Commercial Court over the seizure of his goods. Court has stopped URA from selling off the sweets till the case is resolved.
Deputy registrar John Keitirima gave the order barring URA from disposing off the sweets upon the request of Lumu’s lawyer.
Lumu says his sweets were seized on February 7 and have since been held by URA.
He says he paid sh37m in taxes on May 14, but URA still has his 1,382 cartons of Orbit chewing gum and 166 cartons of Big G chewing gum.
