SIR— Time and again the public has complained about Masaka-Rakai traffic policemen as still the worst in the country.
Last Friday, I left Kampala for Kalisizo for the burial of a close relative. On reaching Masaka at 9:00am, I changed to another kamunye 252 UDB to connect to my final destination. The taxi had got half of the passengers but kept on snaking to different avenues for passengers until it had at least 24.
By this time, we were squashed like sardines. The rear two rows had four passengers each and the other two rows had five. The kameme had three children and the front seat had three. At the Kabuwoko traffic roadblock at 10:00am, we were amazed to see two policemen wave the driver on to Kyotera. Indeed, it is known fact that after the days works, taxi drivers/conductors in return deliver money to these traffic policemen.
On my return, it was the same scenario. A kamunye UAF 418M had five per seat to 22 and the police just waved them on.
