TRAFFIC along the Gulu-Kampala and Arua-Kampala road was yesterday paralysed, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded, following an accident several metres north of Karuma bridge.

The accident, which occured at about 11:30am, involved a trailer and two Nile Coach buses bound for Kampala. It left several passengers with minor injuries, but no one was killed.

Witnesses said the trailer, going towards Arua, was trying to overtake another vehicle when the Nile Coaches approached from Arua. The result was a double collision.

By noon, dozens of vehicles from Gulu and Arua had parked beside the road, about two kilometres on either side of the accident scene.
The trailer which had now blocked the road was waiting to be removed by a crane from SBI Construction Company, based at Karuma Trading Centre.
