WANDERERS’ Fredrick Mpanga has been appointed acting secretary of the local cricket body

WANDERERS’ Fredrick Mpanga has been appointed acting secretary of the local cricket body, the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA), writes Sabiiti Muwanga.

Mpanga, a lawyer, comes in at a time when UCA is reviewing its constitution to accommodate a chief executive, who will be in charge of running the affairs of the association.
“And that will be one of the major tasks and his nomination for the post was no accident,” a source within UCA said.

Mpanga’s nomination comes at the backdrop of the resignation of Joseph Bagabo just as he started his second term in office. No reason was given for his resignation.

Meanwhile, ICC will meet 75% of the costs when Uganda plays Kenya in the ICC intercontinental meet next month.
“We are not really constrained as far as funds are concerned. What ICC was going to use on Kenya to come here is what is going to be offered to Uganda. UCA can fund the 25% gap. We do not even have to run to sponsors,” team manager Robert Kisubi said.
