<b>‘Retire clerk’</b><br>MBALE — The Public Service Commission (PSC) has recommended that the town clerk, Fred Bukeni Ggyabi, be retired.

MBALE — The Public Service Commission (PSC) has recommended that the town clerk, Fred Bukeni Ggyabi, be retired. In a June 18 letter to the district service commission secretary, PSC secretary Duncan Bigirwa said Bukeni, who was interdicted in October for alleged abuse of office, had conducted himself in a manner incompatible with a public officer.

Sitting flops
MBALE — A council meeting called recently by the municipal council speaker, Davis Mwaule, flopped after the mayor, Richard Masaba, convened an executive committee meeting on the same day. Mwaule said he had convened the meeting after the High Court recently issued an interim order directing Masaba to open the council chambers.

NAADS bans
KAPCHORWA — The district has suspended banana technology development under the NAADS programme to curb the spread of banana wilt disease in the district. NAADS coordinator Dr. George Kamatei recently said the district was on alert following an outbreak of banana wilt in Sironko and Mbale districts.

Busoga told
JINJA — Deputy Speaker Rebbeca Kadaga recently advised Busoga leaders to increase local revenue mobilisation instead of seeking for funds from the Government to run their activities.
