FROM October 8, to the morning on Independence Day, brace yourself for an alternative way to celebrate it with people from all over Uganda at the National Celebration.
The American TV crew of Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), will film the activities at Nakivubo Blue Primary School playground, Constitutional Square, Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium, Lugogo Stadium, Nsambya Sports Ground and Nambole Stadium, Namboole. The venues will be connected in real time through state-of-the art technology.
Pastor Jackson Senyonga of Christian Life Church, who is the brain behind the event, said CBN will enable the six venues to interact electronically and broadcast the celebrations on their worldwide network.
The chief guest at the national celebration, which also features the National Top Radio Music Awards, is expected to be the President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni and wife, Janet.
Several choir groups and artistes will showcase their products as they compete for awards.
“Because Top Radio believes in excellence, we want to add our support to the efforts and hard work the musicians put into their music and songs,” the sponsors, Top Radio, Top TV and CLC, have pledged.
Contests held in each of the four major regions coordinated by Top Radio produced four winners per district. The eight winning groups and individuals will present musical talent on October 8. The winner will get trophies for the Top Radio National Music Awards. Other prizes include a car for the over all winner.
Senyonga says should watch the event on their screens because there will also be localised programming at each venue.
“The main real time event that will have to be broadcast live between the different points like the Guest of Honor’s speech. But later the 10,000-choir and 1,000 strong dance team will be distributed to other venues to power the praise and worship there.” Senyonga said. Visual and audio effects will also liven every performance complete with fireworks to crown the night.
Everyone is invited and to confirm it the organizers are working with Posta Uganda to deliver invitation cards for the celebration to every mailbox in the country. Additionally, free transport will be provided for travelers from the different districts to Kampala and after the festivities return them upcountry.
The National Celebration will be an annual event with awards being given to the best musicians in four major categories each year. Ends
