Juuko finally quits?

JUSTIN Juuko has finally realised that it’s time he quit the ring and concentrate on less taxing ventures

JUSTIN Juuko has finally realised that it’s time he quit the ring and concentrate on less taxing ventures, writes James Bakama.

Juuko, 32, told boxing site SecondsOut.com that he has completed a diploma in business management and plans to branch into work related to helping AIDS victims in Uganda.

Juuko was at his prime in the mid 90s one of the best featherweights. His achievements included Commonwealth and North American Boxing Federation titles.

He was however denied a shot at the world title because of professional boxing’s murky politics.

But when he showed signs of being over the hill, he was showered with world title shots. These included fights with big names like Diego Corrales, Miguel Cotto and Floyd Mayweather, whom he took on at a week’s notice.

Juuko’s last fight saw him being knocked out by Englishman Michael Gomez in the second round. He has lost seven of his last 13 fights. Should he hang his gloves, he would have wound up his career at 39 wins (28 kos) eight losses and one draw.
